Is "if I can invade Poland, there's nothing I can't do" a well-known phrase?
It's a new day and new hope for Rachel. Yesterday Rachel was a sad runaway bride and a failing daughter. Next morning Rachel beams with excitement and can't wait for her brand new life to begin.
Rachel: If I can make coffee, there isn't anything I can't do.
Chandler: I think it's, "If I can invade Poland, there's nothing I can't do."
Why is it invading Poland supposed to make one all-mighty?
According to this source it was Hitler who said 'If I can invade Poland I can have the entire world'. Also Zabiegana commented on this post there are rumors Hitler didn't expect Poland to fight for this long.
My thoughts that is because through out its history Poland has been a frequent target for different wars. Why? That could be because Poland is bordering with 7(!) countries: Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia and Russia. On top of high bordering counties count Poland can be accessed by Baltic Sea.Further in her comment Poland native Zabiegana adds that Hitler once said, if he would've known the invasion of Poland would cost him so much, he wouldn't have carried on with his World War II ambitions.
Thankfully for Rachel and us all, not everything we read as a sign in life is always a reliable predictor of what the future really has in store for us.
Chandler was referring to Hitler during WII who said that 'if i can invade Poland i can have the entire world' meaning that if he could invade Poland there was nothing he couldn't do. Thankfully he was wrong.

ReplyDeleteGood to know. Never had a chance to hear it in real life, that is why sounded strange to me).
ReplyDeleteDid Hitler really say that?
ReplyDeleteApparently, but google didn't help with finding the proof of it
DeleteThere are mixed opinions about what Hitler thought of Poland - some say he found us to be inferior to Germans and some say (and apparently there are good source for that), that he thought of us as a strong nation and invading us and making us surrender would open the door to his world-wide victory.
DeleteThere are rumours that say that Hitler had not expected Poland to fight for that long and had he known that, he wouldn't have started the war.
The world does not appreciate my country for economic reasons, but people are strong, loyal and courageous. We withstood the Partitions of Poland, WW1, WW2 and years of socialism under USSR. And then years of crappy politicians. All good now though :)
Poland has now Lewandowski
