I was the James Michener of dirty talk.

Joey wants to know how the yesterday Ross's date went after his(Joey's) dirty talking classes. Ross is bragging:

-I was unbelievable... I was the James Michener of dirty talk.

Who is James Michener? And how is he related to to the dirty talking?

    James Michener was a bestselling American author who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His novel Tales of the South Pacific was the inspiration for the Broadway musical and 1958 film South Pacific.

    So would that mean that Ross was as good in dirty talking as James Michener was in his novel writing?

How is Chandler's reference to Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow" funny? Ross and Rachel just broke up. Rachel invites guys to a free event she has tickets to. They reject the invitation, because Ross had them reserved for that same night earlier. Rachel says that it's not a big deal and leaves. Everyone is upset especially Chandler. He lights up a cigarette even though he wasn't smoking for a year already. Someone knocks on a door and Chandler says: Chandler: That's great. With my luck, that's him. Phoebe:  Him? Ross? Chandler:  No, Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow." What is that with this hymn?
