Yes, we did. Thanks to Vidal Buffay

Monica realises that Chandler and Joey got new hair cuts. What Chandler confirms and praises Phoebe:

- Yes, we did. Thanks to Vidal Buffay.
Phoebe (in that maden voice):
- Because, you know, "If you don't
look good, we don't look good."

Who is Vidal Buffay? Why Phoebe gets this nickname? Why is the voice for "If you don't look good, we don't look good."?

  1. According to: http://mighty-poseidon.livejournal.com/6890.html

As we know, Buffay is Phoebe’s surname, and there’s this famous hairdresser named Vidal Sassoon(the one who is famous in Russia for Wash-and-Go shampoo), Chandler made this name Vidal Buffay up to tell Monica it was Phoebe who had Joey’s and his hair cut, at the same time, it is an compliment to Phoebe’s hair cutting skills.

  2. And for the special voice it is all claer now too:

Since Vidal Sassoon (born January 17, 1928) is a well-known hairdresser who owns a hair care product brand in his own name. He have had that commercial slogan:"If you don't look good, we don't look good." and the voice of course. That is why Phoebe remembers it.

s03e17 Chandler: No, Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow."

How is Chandler's reference to Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow" funny? Ross and Rachel just broke up. Rachel invites guys to a free event she has tickets to. They reject the invitation, because Ross had them reserved for that same night earlier. Rachel says that it's not a big deal and leaves. Everyone is upset especially Chandler. He lights up a cigarette even though he wasn't smoking for a year already. Someone knocks on a door and Chandler says: Chandler: That's great. With my luck, that's him. Phoebe:  Him? Ross? Chandler:  No, Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow." What is that with this hymn?
