Monica: It must have cost you quite a few doubloons!

Chandler receives a golden bracelet of friendship from Joey. Chandler a bit hesitant to wear it, but still does. Later when he accidentally shows it to the others, they mock him.

Chandler :
- That thing, it's a uhh. . . yeah it's, it's a little flashy.
Ross :
- No no, no no, it's not flashy, not for a Goodfella.
Monica :
- Man, man that is sharp. It must have cost you quite a few doubloons.

Why does Ross use "Goodfella" to refer ti Chndler here? Why Monica says "doubloons"?

Comments

  1. I suspect that both of those comments (Monica's and Ross's) are connected with the famouse "Good Fellas" movie. I've never really saw it, but I have a feeling it's about mafia. And maybe this where the connection between the golden flashy bracelet and the comments lays?

s03e17 Chandler: No, Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow."

How is Chandler's reference to Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow" funny? Ross and Rachel just broke up. Rachel invites guys to a free event she has tickets to. They reject the invitation, because Ross had them reserved for that same night earlier. Rachel says that it's not a big deal and leaves. Everyone is upset especially Chandler. He lights up a cigarette even though he wasn't smoking for a year already. Someone knocks on a door and Chandler says: Chandler: That's great. With my luck, that's him. Phoebe:  Him? Ross? Chandler:  No, Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow." What is that with this hymn?
