Phoebe: It's like knowing one of the Gabor Sisters

Joey gives Chandler a golden bracelet as a friendship symbol. Others joyfully mock Chandler.

Phoebe: No, no, it's fun, it's fun. It's like knowing one of the Gabor Sisters.

How come Chandler is compared to one of the Gabor sisters? Did they wear much jewellery?

  1. According to wikipedia, the Gabor Sisters are three Hungarian sisters. They were immigrants and moved to NYC during WWII. They tryed to become famouse in Hollywood. But got more famouse for their multiple marriges.

Still not sure how to connect this info with Chandler wearing golden bracelet.

  4. The Gabor sisters were considered glamorous, but in a kind of gaudy and flashy way. A giant piece of over-the-top gold jewelry is something they would've worn.

    1. Those details do add sense to Phoebe's joke. Chandler would not be appreciative of such comparison. No-no)) Thank you, Oat!

How is Chandler's reference to Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow" funny? Ross and Rachel just broke up. Rachel invites guys to a free event she has tickets to. They reject the invitation, because Ross had them reserved for that same night earlier. Rachel says that it's not a big deal and leaves. Everyone is upset especially Chandler.
