Rachel: I do think Kirk was smarter than Spock

Rachel and Ross argue. Ross heads to the door trying to keep it together. Rachels throws the ultimate teaser:

Rachel:
- And you know what? Actually, I do think Kirk was smarter than Spock.

Chandler: You were kidding about the Kirk-Spock-thing, though right?

Was there an ongoing intellegence competition between Kirk and Spock in Startrack series?

  1. Kirk was always more visceral and Spock was always more intellectual and in English-speaking countries, this is common knowledge. So for someone to say that Kirk was smarter than Spock is just plain ridiculous. It's like saying "I do think the moon is brighter than the sun." Rachel doesn't really think Spock was smarter, she just said that because she knew it would upset Ross, who is a person that is very concerned with facts and accuracy.

    1. Thank you, Marko! Learning about the common knowledge is the best to me. As for Star Track it seem to be still popping out here and there in all sorts of media. Should watch it some time.

s03e17 Chandler: No, Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow."

How is Chandler's reference to Hymn 253: "His Eyes are on the Sparrow" funny? Ross and Rachel just broke up. Rachel invites guys to a free event she has tickets to. They reject the invitation, because Ross had them reserved for that same night earlier. Rachel says that it's not a big deal and leaves. Everyone is upset especially Chandler. He lights up a cigarette even though he wasn't smoking for a year already. Someone knocks on a door and Chandler says: Chandler: That's great. With my luck, that's him. Phoebe:  Him? Ross?
