Ross: And is a hum like a scruddle?

TV is on. Ross is learning about rugby. Joey volunteers to explain the game.

Joey:
- Okay, Ross, look right here. That’s called a scrum, okay? It’s kinda like a huddle.

Ross:
- And is a hum, kinda like a scruddle?

What's funny about the "hum like a scruddle" wordplay?

  1. God bless, urbandictionary! None of my regular dictionaries knew what "scruddle" would mean. So now at least we have:

    SCRUDDLE:
The greasy remnants left behind on a frying pan or griddle after cooking bacon, ground beef or steak. Scruddle can be added to gravy for extra flavor. In some instances people of little or no income prefer to eat scruddle on a piece of wonder bread.

Now it's only left to learn why this subtle play of words does actually work?

They reject the invitation, because Ross had them reserved for that same night earlier. Rachel says that it's not a big deal and leaves. Everyone is upset especially Chandler.
